THE JEWISH CEMETERY
The first thing the Jews did when they arrived in La Paz was to establish a cemetery and this is a place we wanted to see. We were given permission by the Synagogue to go and the gates were open for us by the caretaker who actually lives on the cemetery property and has been taking care of the cemetery for over 30 years. The cemetery is located on the side of a mountain in Miraflores, which is the middle class section of the city. The graves are laid out on several terraces and the views are spectacular. The cemetery itself is the most beautifully kept one I have ever seen. The monument’s designs are very modern looking with interesting angles. Each grave is immaculate.
