Introduction

When I was a kid many years ago I remember hearing people say they were going to rob a bank, run away to Bolivia and live like a King. Well, I am here to tell you that you don't have to rob a bank to do this, even now. The truth is that a person with an even less than a moderate income can live quite comfortably in Bolivia since everything is very inexpensive (except of course many items and services that are aimed toward tourists).

My friend Jerry and I spent four days in Bolivia and at the end of the four days felt that we needed to see more. Most of our time was spent in and around La Paz, however, we did journey out to Lake Titicaca, which was a full day trip, and we only got to see a fraction of what there is to see there. We also missed going to Uyuni, the Bolivian Salt Flats. This is best done as an overnight trip. In addition we would like to have visited the cities of Santa Cruz, and Cochabamba, which we learned have completely different flavors than La Paz. As I mentioned previously, Bolivia, and especially La Paz, turned out to be a place I should have put on my bucket list. I had no idea that I would like it so much and I hope return to some day.
