More Great Architecture

As I said previously, Cuba’s architecture is a photographer’s paradise. Below are some more examples of buildings and some interiors around Havana that need some love and attention as well as some that have some work done.

El Capitolio, or National Capitol Building in Havana, Cuba, was the seat of government in Cuba until after the Cuban Revolution in 1959, and is now home to the Cuban Academy of Sciences. Its design and name recall the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., but it is only superficially similar. Completed in 1929, it was the tallest building in Havana until the 1950s and houses the world's third largest indoor statue.

Former U.S. Embassy - In January 2006, the Embassy began displaying messages on a scrolling electronic billboard in the windows of the top floor. Following a protest march, the Cuban government erected a large number of poles, carrying black flags with single white stars to obscure the US Interests Section's electronic billboard.
